Our newest project- Old Door turned Perfect Window Seat

In the last post I promised our newest project and here  it is.

So, Long ago we built this cute little cottage house. We were young, in love, and very naive that things just work out, just because they are supposed to. That being said, we were supposed to have this cute little window seat in our side bay window that just never really happened. 10 years later we finally did it!!

So we started with this great old door. I am pretty sure it was given to us but I am not exactly sure. Michael sawed it in half and we picked which side we thought would work best for us.

Then he went out to our trusty pile of donated old pallets and wood and picked just the right boards. I am in LOVE with this pile of wood because I see all of the potential in it!!

Here are a couple of the prize pieces he choose.

Next he prepped the window inside by taking down the trim at the bottom of the window. He then brought all the pieces inside and braced the inside of the cabinet.

And here it is after he added the top panel. Now all that is left is a quick coat of paint and....

                TA-DA!!

How cool is that! Finally, I have a window seat in my little nook. Much better than what I had envisioned all these years I might add!! Perfect for storing blankets and what-knots, lounging on rainy days, watching TV with a fluffy blanket and pillow (which is what my little girl thinks it’s for!), etc. I think you get the point!! All I need now is one or two very cute cushions, which I plan on making soon, and lots of cute, coastal/ cottage looking pillows!! I can’t wait!!

Tell me what you think! Do you like it? Any suggestions???

LOL! I had to post this one because I am pretty sure they are proud of the work they did!! As they should be, of course!! Have a great weekend everybody!! Try to stay cool and not get super sunburnt in this Tennessee heat!!
